The Kapelica Gallery was established in 1995 as an art space with focus on Contemporary Investigative Arts and a production platform for research, investigation and experimenting with the limits of artistic discourses and urban poetics. Its mission is to present and promote artistic practices and projects which thematise every form of contemporaneity.
Kapelica art program consists of ambiental installations, live events and theoretically-reflective lectures and presentations as well as workshops in which we engage in scientific and technological applications, biopolitics and urban phenomena, that rapidly change our everyday reality.
In the gallery we are producing and presenting the avantgarde therefore the gallery program is for all those who are interested in our near future in which the life values and meaning will be different of the ones we are living in this moment. Kapelica is not only the space in which already finished art works are exhibited but active production platform that encourages, enables and presents contemporary investigative art production of the most bold artists. The gallery presents works of those artists who dare to go beyond safe and pleasant themes and are challenging us to contemplate and wonder with them.
Kapelica Gallery is part of the Kersnikova Institute, one of the central NGO in Slovenia that operates in the fields of investigative art, culture and education practices. Kersnikova is the synonym for the contemporary, progressive urban arts and culture platform that shakes Ljubljana for more than twenty years with the program run by the Kapelica Gallery, hackerspace Rampa, wet-lab BioTehna and urban sound venue Club K4.
Kapelica Gallery will be working with Špela Petrič.
